The property

Brunton Suite is set by the rushing waters of the magnificent River North Tyne in the village of Wark, Northumberland. With off-road parking for one car, interiors completed to a high standard, and superb positioning close to nearby shops and pubs, this delightful property welcomes a family of four or two couples for a relaxing self-catered escape just south of the Northumberland National Park. Climb the stairs and make yourself comfortable in the well-equipped abode. With modern open-plan living relax on the well-presented sofa and enjoy a film on the Smart TV or get together with family and friends over a board game. Prepare a meal in the fully-equipped kitchen with an electric oven hob and microwave, which can be enjoyed at the dining table while making plans for the holiday. At the end of the day retire to one of the two king-size bedrooms and freshen up in the large walk-in shower. Outside you will find access to a shared garden, where you can enjoy morning coffee or a well-earned drink at the end of the day. A walk into the heart of Wark will bring you to the Premier Convenience or Wark Post Office, where you can stock up on homely essentials, as well as the Battlesteads Hotel & Restaurant, which serves hearty pub grub for when you fancy taking a break from cooking. A short distance away you can discover what the dark night skies have to offer at the Battlesteads dark sky observatory. A brief car journey south of your lodgings will bring you to Hexham, where you can find the lush greens of Hexham Park, the Hexham Old Gaol Museum, as well as the Corbridge Roman Town - Hadrian's Wall site just outside of the settlement. Alternatively, a car trip north will take you into the wonderful Kielder Forest Park, where you can embark on a hike through Hareshaw Linn towards the Waterfall, roam the grounds of the Roman Fort - Vindolanda, and even get up close and personal with birds of prey at the Falconry Days safari park. You will never be short of things to do for all ages and abilities at Brunton Suite.

Wark is a delightful village surrounded by beautiful unspoilt Northumbrian countryside, on the edge of the National Park. Wark offers much of interest, including shops, a gothic style church and good quality restaurants. Hadrian’s Wall and Housesteads Fort are nearby, whilst the market town of Hexham is a ten mile drive and is well worth a visit, with its narrow bustling streets, good selection of shops and a fascinating abbey boasting 15th century paintings and a fine Saxon crypt. The Border Country, Northumbrian coast, Kielder Forest with cycling and watersports, Beamish Open Air Museum and Durham Cathedral are all within easy motoring distance, while the Gateshead Metro Centre (one of the largest shopping centres in Europe) can be reached within an hour. Suitable for year-round holidays, this unspoilt area with its fishing, horse riding, abundant wildlife and superb walking country is a nature lover’s dream.
